“Lockdowns have become a hallmark of American education and a byproduct of this country’s inability to curb its gun violence epidemic. “
GENERATION LOCKDOWN is a narrative short film, seen through the eyes of an eleven year old boy as he tries to save his friend’s life during an active shooter attack in his school. This film is based on a short story by Caleb, a 6th grader from a public school in Teaneck, NJ. This film is a CALL TO ACTION to get parents, lawmakers, schools and community leaders to work together to pledge to protect our children from inexplicable violence and commit to prevent future mass shootings in schools. As part of our Give Film Foundation mission, this film will raise awareness and funds for organizations that are working to implement safer gun laws to protect our children. Additionally we will create an short educational documentary as a companion film to tour across the US to open up dialog between teens, parents, teachers and administrators, empowering kids to have a say in this issue that deeply effects them, their friends and their communities. www.genlockdownfilm.com

Make a Change
In cases where the source of the gun could be determined, more than 85 percent of shooters brought them from their own homes or obtained them from friends or relatives. Seven in 10 of them, however, were under the age of 18, which means that — often because of an adult’s negligence — dozens of children had access to deadly weapons. We hope this film will incentivize parents to be the first in the line of defense by removing kids’ access to guns in the home and giving them tools to identify stress and anxiety caused by lockdown drills. Laws may take years to change, but we can make one simple change right now, today.
We have listened to the voices and the pleas of our nation’s teens and our goal is that GENERATION LOCKDOWN will support their vision for a safer America through the demand of universal background checks, gun permit waiting periods, bans on assault rifles, raising the age of gun ownership, increased mental health options, banning domestic violence perpetrators from gun ownership, de-funding the NRA and taking away it’s lobbying power in Washington DC.
